James Jefferies

James Jefferies is a PhD Candidate and Assistant Lecturer at the University of Essex specialising in the war in the air during the Second World War and the British cultural memory, and Associate Fellow (AFHEA) of the Higher Education Academy.
He also currently teaches at the University of Wolverhampton and has previously taught at Northeastern University, London , Jesus College, Cambridge and Corpus Christi, Oxford.
James has been published numerous times including in the Journal of Twentieth Century History and for the International Churchill Society. Previous talks have included conferences at the RAF Museum Hendon, University of Pittsburgh, and Aviation Cultures. He has also given talks for Battle Guide Virtual Tours, Museum of Combined Military Warfare, and History Indoors. He is also a postgraduate member of the Royal Historical Society and member of the Great War Group.

Jane Gulliford Lowes

Jane is an author & award-winning historian, with a lifelong interest in the Second World War & RAF Bomber Command. She abandoned a legal career to concentrate on writing & researching full time.  Her specialisms are RAF minelaying operations (a bit niche!), veteran testimony,  & the Norwegian Campaign. Jane's 2nd book (her first on Bomber Command), Above Us the Stars: 10 Squadron Bomber Command - The Wireless Operator's Story'  was published in 2020.

Jane holds a Masters Degree in Second World War Studies, & is the recipient of the RAF Museum's Academic Award 2023 for her thesis, 'Invisible Campaign - Bomber Command Minelaying Operations 1940-1945'. Her book (same title) will be published later in 2024. She's also writing a book on the Lofoten Commando raids of 1941 (publication date 2025).

Her spare time is spent spaniel-wrangling & watching endless re-reruns of 'Where Eagles Dare'.
